Goodyear Unveils SUV/Light-Truck Winter Tires

AKRON, OHIO - Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. has introduced the Goodyear Ultra Grip Ice WRT, the company's first dedicated winter tire for SUVs and light trucks.

The Ultra Grip Ice WRT contains Goodyear's Winter Reactive Technology, a combination of features "that work together to help provide a balance of starting, stopping and turning action in a variety of weather conditions, such as snow, ice, slush, wet and dry," say Goodyear officials.

Other elements include two- and three-dimensional tread blades, a directional tread design and Goodyear's Winter Grip Compound. The tire contains two distinct tread designs, one for light truck applications and one for SUV/crossover vehicle applications.

It comes in 16 sizes, including 10 passenger sizes in the S speed rating and six LT sizes in the Q speed rating. Applications include the Jeep Grand Cherokee, Toyota 4Runner, Honda Pilot, Dodge Ram, GMC Yukon, Nissan Pathfinder and similar vehicles.
